Rabea Rogge, ETH Zürich alumna and former ARIS member, has become Germany’s first female astronaut.

On 31 March 2025, she launched aboard Fram2 on a pioneering four-day mission — the first human spaceflight to traverse earth’s polar regions.

As vehicle pilot, Rabea activated the Space Genomics experiment, developed by the University of Zurich Space Hub (UZH), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of Nevis. This international effort reflects the growing impact of Swiss academic space research.

During her time at ETH, Rabea was actively involved in ARIS, contributing to the student-led SAGE nanosatellite mission and testing key components during the 6th Swiss Parabolic Flight Campaign.

Her journey highlights the unique hands-on opportunities ETH students can access — and where those can lead. We are proud to see ETH talent shaping the future of human spaceflight.
